Meta Tags

Meta tags are a means of communicating to search engines the title and description of a site or page. Making sure this information is given can help control how your site is listed.

In Notanant the titles of sites, topics and articles are automatically entered into the meta tags along with the summary which acts as the description. If no summary is entered for the site/topic/article then the search engines will usually index the first paragraph of the main area.

You can also add in bespoke meta words for a main site section if you're worried that they aren't in the summaries.

  • First log in to the site
  • Edit the front page for the site (where general settings for the site can be found), do this by using the edit bar at the top of the page (use the Notanant symbol in the top left corner)
  • Click on the 'more settings' symbol, which is a little cross near the bottom of the page
  • Enter your words into the Metatag Description Area seperated by spaces
